Casement Bay Window Repair
This Grade II listed, Arts and Crafts casement bay window is situated in the Rhiwbina Garden Village Conservation Area, which is recognised as one of the best Garden City examples in Wales.
Years of neglect, water penetration and in-appropriate repairs had caused severe damage and decay, most significantly to the external sills and lower portions of the window frame.
The casements were removed to the workshop, where the surviving original glass was preserved for refitting, and the windows assessed for repairs. On site, the decayed timber was removed and the surviving timber treated and prepared to receive the new repairs.
Once the repairs to the frames were complete and the casements repaired and re-glazed in the traditional manner, using putty and the surviving original glass, the windows were re-fitted with the addition of discrete and appropriate draught-excluding brushes.
